My musical journey was honestly inspired by jamming out to my sister’s band as a little kid. They would rehearse at our house and I can remember the joy and energy I would get listening to them and couldn’t wait to play an instrument myself!
During Primary School I undertook bass guitar lessons with Stephen Campbell and later
classical Piano studies with Lesley Gentilin at the Creative House of Learning. Having instrument proficiency now under my belt I was able to perform with the Port Lincoln City Band at various shows and festivals, play rocks gigs at local bars and restaurants and most importantly sit in at Jam sessions.
With the amount of rewarding performances I was doing locally I couldn’t wait to pursue my music further, Undertaking a Bachelor of Jazz at the Western Australian Academy Of Performing Arts in Perth 2017. During my time at university I specialised in Double Bass and Piano and was exposed to many amazing opportunities, performing with great bands in spectacular locations while receiving excellent tuition. Highlights from my time in Perth were performing at the State Quarry Moonlight Concert with the Western Australian Youth Jazz Orchestra, West Coast vs Melbourne preliminary AFL final at Optus Stadium with my sister Jean Proude, performing to 30 000 people for the Western Australia Christmas Symphony Concert on the bank of the Swan River and traveling to Paris performing with various jazz combos.
Now living back in Port Lincoln, I wish to inspire my students to enjoy music for the happiness it can bring to one’s life and use their skills to perform with people anywhere in the world.
